  • Jesi Vega is a writer, writing instructor, and book editor dedicated to providing opportunities and creating spaces in which women of color share the stories and wisdom that can make the world a more just, sustainable, and fulfilling place. In a former life, she worked in Hollywood as a screenwriter and documentary film editor and is a graduate of the University of Chicago Divinity School. She’s a Scorpio, INFJ, Enneagram 4, Human Design Projector which just means she’s a deep, sensitive, and passionate person compelled to stir up revolutions.

  • Ivellisse Morales is an apocalyptic yet radically optimistic creative who is #litonpurpose. She brings a decade of experience in using marketing as a force for good—for brands of all sizes from inside major creative agencies and nonprofits. Since 2018, Ivellisse has served as the visionary behind bombilla, a branding & design agency for social change. Bombilla (lightbulb in Spanish) is fueled by a national network of diverse creatives who conspire with systems-changing organizations to make the world brighter. Clients include Paid Leave for the United States (PL+US) and United for Reproductive & Gender Equity (URGE), among other nonprofits and women and Black, Indigenous and People of Color-led social enterprises.

  • Katherine Felts is a poet and writer who focuses primarily on work that points a mirror at herself and her environment. Her work is informed by her lived experiences as a Black woman, and made richer by her travels around the country and the globe. She currently resides in Tacoma, WA, and is a Gender Studies graduate of the University of Washington Tacoma.

YARNING A TALE FOR THE YOUNGSTERS

Wendy Wahman: Former Seattle P-I newspaper artist, Wendy Wahman now writes and illustrates children’s books. Her debut picture book, “Don’t Lick the Dog,” was selected as a 2010 Bank Street Best Children’s Book of the Year, starred for Outstanding Merit and accepted to the Society of Illustrators Original Art show. Other books include “A Cat Like That,” “Snowboy 1,2,3,” “Rabbit Stew,” “Pony in the City,”and “Nanny Paws,” and releasing Fall 2021: “Old Pearl.” Wendy’s editorial illustrations have appeared in major publications including Harper’s Magazine, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and many others. Her illustrated memoir, “Progress,” was awarded a TAIP grant and the SCBWI Martha Weston Grant in 2019. She lives in Tacoma with her husband, writer Joe Wahman and their two kids – who surprisingly, look and act just like Standard Poodles. Website: www.wendywahman.com

Tom Llewellyn is the author of four novels and one picture book for children and young adults. First published in 2008, his books have been translated into five languages. Along with Lance Kagey, Llewellyn is co-founder of the street-art team, Beautiful Angle, and their award-winning letterpress poster project. Tom graduated with honors from the University of Washington’s creative writing program. He was born in Tacoma, Washington and lives there with his wife and four children. You can purchase his books at King’s Books Store.

Jennifer Chushcoff: Jenn writes for all ages. Blending science, biography and poetry, her award-winning pop-up, Snowflakes, has been reprinted 5 times and translated into French and Japanese. Her frightfully fun stories for kids earned her the Edward Gorey award and a shoutout from R.L. Stine. Her alter ego, The Fairy Gothmother, is the creator of the Halloween Hunt, Bad Dream Box and newly released picture book, A Blaze of Dragons and Other Fairytale Families.
