Tacoma Reads: Writing Your Personal Mythology & Origin Story at University of Puget Sound

Join poet and University of Puget Sound Librarian Wendy Lee Spaček for a writing workshop based on the themes of the Tacoma Reads youth selection We Belongby Cookie Hiponia.

During the workshop, you will be guided through a series of writing exercises to mine your personal mythology (family lore, cultural traditions/heritage) in order to write your own poetic origin story.

About Wendy Lee Spaček: 

Wendy Lee Spaček is a poet and librarian originally from the Midwest. Her first book, Psychogynecology, was published by Monster House Press in 2015. She is a co-editor of poetry books, ephemera, & experiences at Poiesis, SYZYGY (2020-22), Monster House Press & Monster House Presents (2016-19), and Soft River (2010-2016). Her poems can be found (under her poet-name WLS) in print and online at Poets.org, Breakwater, The Portland Review, Carolina Quarterly, W The Trees, and more. She holds an MFA in poetry from Indiana University and a BFA in writing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She currently lives and works in the Pacific Northwest, where she is the Arts & Humanities Librarian at the University of Puget Sound.
